Delegations of Authority
The University of California is governed by the Board of Regents, which under Article IX, Section 9 of the California Constitution has "full powers of organization and governance" subject only to very specific areas of legislative control. At each of the UC campuses, campus officials' authority is derived from the Regents either directly (for some powers of the Chancellor) or indirectly through the President.
Authority at UCR is delegated through policies or procedures, delegation of authority letters, job descriptions and signature authorization forms. Authority may also be granted or delegated by assigning an employee a role in a UC/UCR system.
